Annual rightsholder meeting focus turns to digital audio strategies to further access loyal fans

LAS VEGAS (November 20, 2019) – At the conclusion of each season, the majority of Major League Baseball (MLB) audio rightsholders gather to share successes in engaging with fans through broadcast radio and digital audio. This year, over 20 teams and organizations participated in panels covering technology, audio sales strategies and the future of emerging non-terrestrial mediums.  Digital content captured the main focus of the conversations, as franchises shared strategies for monetizing this evolving platform.

“Skyview Networks is proud to return as the title sponsor of this conference, which hosts an innovative group of baseball and broadcast executives as they discuss the critical role radio and digital audio play in fan engagement,” said Skyview Networks President and COO, Steve Jones. “We look forward to developing additional technology to serve our partners in this evolving audio space.”

As a leading audio technology and network sales organization, Skyview Networks provides myriad services such as distribution, inventory management and proof-of-performance software to the majority of professional franchises.  These include long-time partners such as the Saint Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Oakland A’s and more.

“From broadcast audio to podcasts to smart speakers, MLB audio rightsholders are creating innovative ways to engage their fans with audio content and Skyview is proud to partner with them,” said Matt Stys, Vice President, Business Development.

During the conference, several franchise executives revealed the successful expansion of their radio networks while simultaneously deepening their understanding of digital audio strategies. A special breakout session outlined the future of online gaming and its likely impact on broadcast rights holders.

Additional panel topics included maximizing ad sales with an emphasis on innovative features and creating awareness for franchises’ ancillary digital content, especially concerning podcasts.  As the digital listenership rapidly increases, the franchises are hyper-focused on monetizing the platform.
